Dolce Vita magazine came to Mikuláš with an irresistible brief: dress six iconic furniture pieces from the first half of the 20th century in original knitted designs. The chairs – each with its own character and story – were borrowed for the project. Some came from private collections, others were licensed replicas from the design shop Modernista.
For inspiration, Mikuláš turned to something that had captivated European salons a century ago – spiritualism, séances, encounters with the invisible. The resulting collection is steeped in occult ritual, fantastical plants from other universes, creatures from unknown worlds, and visions born from altered states of consciousness.
Six unique objects emerged. Each chair received its own “garment” – one that plays with, and gently amplifies, its original character with wit, warmth and feeling.
The collection was on show at the Dolce Vita stand during Designblok 2025 at the Krizik Pavilion, and the October print issue of the magazine dedicated a full article to it.
