We wanted something original for the wall behind the worktop in our new studio kitchen. Bespoke textile was the obvious answer. Mikuláš drew loose inspiration from the work of American artist Milton Avery and created a dreamlike scene in shades of red, beige and brown. He used wool and silk, with touches of shimmering lurex to lift the surface. The texture is enriched by deliberately dropped or elongated stitches. The textile sits safely behind glass — and every day it makes us happy just to look at it. It works beautifully, too.
